This is an exciting opportunity to join Hyundai Capital Australia (HCAU) at a time of rapid growth following our recent launch. HCAU is the Australian subsidiary of Hyundai Capital Services Korea and has commenced operations to deliver captive-finance solutions for three OEM brands under the Hyundai Motor Group (HMG). HMG is Korea's second-largest conglomerate, with a strong focus on automobiles, auto parts, finance and more. As the financial arm of HMG, Hyundai Capital Services supports global vehicle sales by providing a comprehensive range of automotive finance products and services.
We’re currently hiring an experienced Legal Counsel to provide legal support for HCAU’s wholesale financing structures, including its loan facilities arrangements. In this role, you’ll report directly to our General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer.
What you’ll do:
- Review, draft and negotiate loan facilities agreements and security documents to support HCAU’s wholesale financing arrangements.
- Provide practical, commercial legal advice to stakeholders on contractual rights, obligations and risk mitigation.
- Monitor regulatory changes that impact commercial and financing activities and communicate developments and recommend necessary changes to documentation or process.
- Support cross-functional teams in the development of policies, procedures and internal controls relevant to wholesale activities.
- Manage external legal counsel in connection with wholesale financing transactions and related projects.
- Maintain accurate records of executed agreements, negotiation status and related legal documentation.
- Perform any other duties to support the Legal & Compliance team.
Your skills & experience:
- 3 years’+ post qualified experience (PQE), preferably gained in a commercial or financial services law firm.
- Experience with asset-based finance and securities documentation.
- Tertiary qualification in law with a current legal practising certificate.
- Ability to partner with business units to ensure the successful negotiation of wholesale transactions.
- Knowledge of Australian laws and regulations governing loan documents including the unfair contracts terms regime and the PPSA.
- Ability to adapt quickly to change and deliver quality results in a timely manner.
- Strong time management, problem solving and project management skills.
